Making Coasters with Kimono fabric
Let's make coasters from kimono obi ourselves!
Would you like to create a unique, handcrafted coaster made from kimono obi fabrics with us? We will make it ourselves and customize it.
Wooden lamp making with Japanese traditional pattern Part I
In this workshop, we will make a wooden lamp with Japanese traditional patterns. Behind the wooden panel, a Shoji paper will be applied to create a soft ambient light. The lamp can be used as freestanding or hanging.
Rosewindows Paper Art
In this workshop, the participants will create your own rose window using special paper in the color of your choice. When the finished Rose Window is allowed to shine through the light, it creates a unique art of light. This is a kids friendly workshop above 4 years old.
Chigiri-e art workshop
Traditional Chigiri-e technique by Sayo Watano
In this workshop, you will first sketch a motif with line drawing. Then you will color the sketch. Instead of paint, you will use paper to color it. This is called 'chigiri-e'(torn paper art). Originally, Japanese paper is used, but in the workshop, we will use familiar paper such as colored paper, newspaper, and wrapping paper.

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique known for its geometric patterns and historical roots, particularly in regions like Tsugaru and Nanbu in Aomori Prefecture. In this workshop, you’ll select a pattern from a variety of prepared designs, transfer it onto fabric, and use Sashiko techniques to embroider it. This session focuses on making a coaster with Sashiko embroidery.
