Member of Japanese architecture start up VUILD will explain the evolution of traditional carpentry to modern technology and how we combine the both intelligence, traditional and high-tech, to achieve a modern form of wood construction technique.
If you are just a fan of Japanese architecture, or practicing architect using parametric softwares, the up-to-date insight knowledge from members of VUILD will surely be a interesting topic to follow! For those who uses Rhinoceros or simillar 3D modelling Software, we will explain how joinery can be developped in such programs.

About Shunsuke Nakako / Digital Carpenter
Born in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Studied “Carpentry Skills and the Use of Digital Fabrication” at the Department of Architecture, Shibaura Institute of Technology. After graduating from the same university, he began training as a carpenter under the master carpenter of Satsuki Corporation in Nishiawakura Village, Okayama Prefecture, as a member of the Regional Development Cooperation Volunteers.
He is currently exploring the use of digital fabrication for carpentry. In addition to carpentry, he is also trying his hand at making wooden furniture based on the skills he has acquired.
